So much so that we thought it was time for a re-visitation. Our 2008 mixes bring this classic bang up to date. Progressive big-room favourite Medway delivers a glorious stomper of a mix which mixes in chunky grooves and subtle chord changes. Martin Eilbahn in his ‘Weekend World’ goes low slung and moody on the flip. Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 01/03/2010> Description: Finish copy. The first release for 2010 on Exit records comes in the form of two tracks by Russian newcomers Abstract Elements, made up of two producers Bop and Diagram. Their tracks caught the attention of label owner dBridge with their seemingly fearless quest for experimentation and have featured heavily in the sets of DJs such as dBridge, Instra:mental, Loxy, ASC and also on the Autonomic podcasts. Both tracks sit just as comfortably at clubs such as FWD as they do in an all out DnB party. “Wrong Way” takesus into a void of sound and space, built around a metronomic radar blip, the track sinks down deep through the uncharted depths of the subsonic bass realms. Attention to detail, intricate use of atmospheric sound effects and devastating low end bass give this track a unique sensation which just cannot be ignored. Repeated listening is required to fully explore the vast soundscape that they have created here. “Abysmal Depth” could be described as a distorted fusion of dub and electronica but also delves into the 4x4 genre.Once again, their use of constantly transforming effects and mood altering atmospherics give this track the quality of being able to take the listener on a journey and leaves them with an awkward sense of not knowing exactly where they’ve just been. Check out the Farbric Live 50 -dBridge & Instra:mental present Autonomic CD to see just how versatile this track be work in the mix. This time it has 22 exclusive tracks and 2 remixes. It will take you on a journey through many different moods and styles of Drum and Bass. From Light to Dark this album has everything! Once Again! Get bitten!!! The concept behind Vampire Records is the relation between the nocturnal behavior of Clubbers and Vampires. Vampire has constant evolution and is a platform for established artists and up and coming talent. The birth of the label was at the end of 2006. It has grown from strength to strength over the last couple of years. Vampire is still growing to this day but it has staying power in the world of Drum and Bass. It is up to its 10th single release and on April 1st 2009 it released its first label album “Once Bitten Twice High”. All releases on the label are still selling which proves that the music has shelf life and is non-disposable. It was very important to Phil Source at the birth of the label that it would have credibility with the old school, as well as the new breed of Drum and Bass fan. Bionic 1 & Amaning/Squash 'Robot Wars/Crawlers'' BIOS006 (BIOS)
Audio: N/A Format : 12 Release Date : 07/12/2009> Description: * The first side of this pressing sees BIOS headman and long-time established dnb bad man Amaning join ranks with another BIOS favourite and dance floor killer, Bionic1. "Robot wars" sets us in a world of chaos with its foreboding samples and heavy driving basslines. Clean drums and tasteful edits round off these sounds to make Robot wars a song that man and android alike could easily find themselves doing the robot to on most any dancefloor.
* The flip of this record welcomes back London's very own master of the deep, Squash. "Crawlers" is a spacey stepper that builds into a steady groove sure to make listeners begin sway. Bring your helmet because head nodding is definite side effect of these vibes. Technotronic noises and the essential boogie vibe that BIOS seeks easily make this song a fine piece of cyberfunk for future minded listeners.Blu Mar Ten 'Natural History' BMTLP001 (Blu Mar Ten )

Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 15/02/2010> Description: Finish copy. 2009 has been a good year for Critical, having built yet further on its reputation as being one of the most forward-thinking underground drum and bass labels in the scene. Appearances from Spectrasoul, Sabre, Serum & Vapour paved the way for the heavily acclaimed Critical Sound compilation that saw label boss Kasra representing the ‘Future of D&B’ at Fabric’s 10th birthday and even guesting on BBC Radio 1. Now just in time for Christmas Critical serve up one last delicious 12” before the new year from the mighty Break. Smooth’s the word as ‘Late Drop’ gets under way with lazy-day pads and a light stepping break that runs through the DJ-friendly intro all the way to the breakdown. Wait for the typically gnarly Breakbass though and then it’s throttle down, away we go on this late night tech-roller that oozes class and sees Critical’s eyes set firmly on the dance floor once again. ‘Crunchy’ kicks off with some interesting orchestration and a simple stepping break that flowsunderneath jungle samples and a distant vocal. It’s all about the distorted b-line though as Break doeswhat he does best letting it worm its way into your psyche. No-nonsense D&B to move your feet. DJ support from Friction, Break, Cyantific, Spectrasoul, Marky, Nu Tone, Logistics and Kasra amongst others. Bulletproof 'Strange Danger / That Dudes A Shapeshifter' SYNDROME015 (Syndrome Audio)

Audio: N/A Format : 12 Release Date : 01/03/2010> Description: CABBIE has been a busy man recently. Not content with just starting his own label hes also been popping up on some of the biggest labels going and teaming up with some big producers in the scene. Recent excursions with Vegas (Bad Company UK) on Bad Taste, and Crystal Clear on DJ Hypes Frontline have shown that Cabbie can turn his hand to many different styles. On the second release on his own Pollution imprint he switches things up and presents a refreshing take on the dancefloor with two contrasting cuts.
Cyclons is a much deeper roller track than people might expect from Cabbie, think more Virus / Cause4Concern as opposed to the jump up sound that he has become renound for. This switch in styles doesn't means this is any less of a party track though, with tough rolling drums a mutating twisting bassline this demonstrates Cabbies versatility and will get heads nodding and feet skanking!
Dropped In It sees Cabbie get experimental on the dancefloor with a hypnotic rave lead being pushed by a punishing sub-bassline. The all encompassing bass fills out the track as the tight beats keep the track moving.
DJ support for Cabbie includes Grooverider (BBC Radio 1), DJ Hype (Kiss100), Simon Bassline Smith, Bryan Gee, Nicky Blackmarket and many more.Cabbie & Ludegoo 'Aint Heard This before' SDR12040 (Sudden Def Recordings)

This is our first single of 2010 and also Cabbie’s debut on the Sudden Def label but his pedigree was spotted many years back with releases on Moving Shadow and Chronic helping to guide him on his early path. Over the last year Cabbies beats have been smashing the dances worldwide with NAM, Ganja, Frontline, Function & Bad Taste being a few of the imprints providing the platform.
‘Ain’t Hear This Before’ is the second time Cabbie & Ludegoo have collaborated, their first was ‘Stiletto’ on Chronic.
This single is only going to heighten the focus on this artist as both tracks have been causing mayhem in the crowds over the last few months, receiving great support from Hype, Randall, Hazard, Clipz, Bryan Gee, Bailey, Fabio, Shy FX, Modified Motion, Taxman and Original Sin.Calibre / Jet Li 'Pop / Lydias Ryme' PHASE2001 (Phase 2)

Chook is that artist, and The Cocoon, Chook’s debut long-playing project, moves beautifully through drum & bass, minimal techno and stunning ambient soundscapes without pausing for breath. The Cocoon is the culmination of half a decade’s worth of hard work. Starting out in 2004, Chook launched Full Force Recordings as an output for the fierce and disturbing side of European techno influenced drum & bass. The label garnered support right from the off with DJs as diverse as Roni Size, J Majik and Calyx & Teebee all queuing up to work Full Force’s releases into their sets. Chook, alongside friends such as Germany’s Phace (Subtitles), New Zealand’s State of Mind (Shogun Audio) and USA’s Mayhem (Ram Records) put the label firmly on the map with tracks from some of the world’s finest breakbeat artists, keeping the music policy as credible, long-lasting D&B. Now, five years since he started Full Force, Chook delves deeper into his influences, spreading his wings as a producer without resorting to cheap tricks and sheep-like trend following. From the growling bass of Optimus Prime through to the inchperfect elements of Time RunningBackwards and the building, spacious progression of Toontown, The Cocoon is a lesson in staying true to your beliefs and sticking the middle finger to those who dare question your motives. An accomplished sound engineer, Dom is well known to have co-produced and mixed some of the classics of the drum and bass scene, including Subway with Ed Rush, Sonar with DJ Trace, appearing as guest producer alongside Optical on Grooveriders seminal Prototype Years album, as well as having enjoyed enormous success with many of his own tracks including the mighty Thunder, Imagination and Can’t Punish Me. The late John Peel a longtime fan, also approached Dom to commission a piece of work although sadly this dream was never realised.
Over the years Dom & Roland releases have been commissioned for several Playstation games and licensed to television in various countries including the BBC and Channel 4 in England. More recently Dom has continued his passion for pushing the boundaries of music technology, contributing from a producer’s standpoint, by being an advisor to various music software companies, including Native Instruments and Focusrite, taking studio tools to the next generation.
In his latest album No Strings Attached, in addition to his latest solo work, Dom has teamed up with the current crop of big name producers to release a 12 track album, featuring collaborations with Amon Tobin of Ninja records, the trendy Dutch super producers Noisia, Violence label owner Hive, Audio, and last but by no means least Rob Playford, Dom’s old label boss, now close friend, also known as the co-producer and engineer of Goldie’s legendary timeless album. Doms latest album is one of his finest works to date and is due for release in late November on all formats.

Audio: N/A Format : 12" Vinyl Release Date : 07/12/2009> Description: After dropping some heavyweight bombs and jungle monsters in recent months Derby’s finest show their versatility on this shimmering 12".
‘Burning’ is the most euphoric d&b track in years laying down a disco-tinged foundation then building the tension to bursting point with a breakdown that will get crowds climbing the walls in anticipation.
‘Breakdown’ is a real builder too based around a simple but hypnotic synth riff that bounces around inside the track whilst the beats and bass keep things big bad and very heavy. Another stunning release from the Technique big dogs showing they can turn their hand to any style with aplomb.Drumsound & Bassline Smith 'Law Of The Jungle / Elastic' TECH060 (Technique Recordings)
Audio: N/A Format : 12" Release Date : 14/12/2009> Description: More goodness from the '10 Years Of Technique' compilation here, with two contrasting slices of dance floor fun from the Technique family. Kicking things off, Derby's Powers That Be roll it out like only they can, on the monstrous 'Law Of The Jungle'.
With $pyda on vocal duty and bass bigger than a herd of stampeding elephants, this is sure to destroy any rave it touches.
On the flip side, this take a turn for the funky, courtesy of liquid funk 'one to watch' Technicolour. As the name suggests, 'Elastic' is a neck-snapping combination of live funk bass, Rhodes licks, and a lounge jazz breakdown that takes the tune somewhere else entirely.

Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 08/03/2010> Description: For the second sampler of the Sync:Saphir album collaboration, the sounds are switched up a bit, bringing in a very heavy remix of Electrosoul System's Fun (from BLUS004) and newcomer BIONIC1's Love Machine. These two tunes put a new spin on the usual Blu Saphir and Syncopix releases you're used to, bringing deep, techy, rolling vibes to the table. You're all used to Henree, spitting out releases over the last five years on the likes of Blindside, Deep Kut, Sound Trax, Lucky Devil, Phunkfiction, Soul:R and Vampire. BIONIC1 is a newcomer to Drum & Bass, but he's got a rolled out sound that's not to be missed! A. ELECTROSOUL SYSTEM -- FUN (HENREE REMIX) Before listening to this remix, you might want to revisit the original to notice the change in texture and sound. Henree definitely lays it down with this remix. Bass heavy and driving, you'll feel bass quakes rolling through the floor as this one passes through the sound system. The opening resembles the original, but that's all you're going to get that hasn't really changed. The moody chord progression that is stabilized throughout the track is enough to make a spine tingle, while the minimal vocal adds spice and atmosphere to an already amazing work. Very melodic and uplifting, an excellent choice in remix selection for this record! B. BIONIC1 -- LOVE MACHINE There is no one word to describe this track. One second you're locked inside some type of futuristic space encounter, and then bombarded by techy stabs and vicious bass in the next. Following a sexy and seductive vocal, "Wanna go for a ride?," all chaos breaks loose! Rolling tech funk is the name of the game here! Fans of labels like DNAudio, Black Reign LTD, Quarantine, Critical and Shadow Law will want to check into this one! SUPPORT: MARCUS INTALEX, DJ MARKY, RANDOM MOVEMENT, S.P.Y AND MANY MORE.

Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 02/03/2009> Description: Finished Copy Promo’s. The 4th release on Sunrize Recordings has taken a little longer in the oven, but boy are we happy with it!!! It just gets better and better! Now, another 12" from the label bosses themselves Human Factor and newcomer MJazzy, on a veryuplifting vibe for all the club people out there. A - Human Factor - What a Shame Fast paced beats full of those dirty hi-hats and tambourines, just well enough distorted to carry the beautiful melancholic strings. The Powerful basslines are then introduced by the dangerous horns loop, revealing all the energy and slickness of this true brazilian Drum‘n’Bass classic. Vocals join the middle break, topping up the energy for the second part of the track, all with a subtle déjà-vu feeling...This has been heavily supported by legend DJ Patife, Gilles Peterson, Jordan V, Spiritual South, DJ Cliffy, plus a wild crowd reaction from Human Factor’s sets throughout last Summer, which comes to show why dogsonacid.com claims Human Factor to be the next big thing coming from Brazil. B1 - Human Factor - It's No Use A great cross-over brazilian Drum'n'Bass track, this was rinsed by World Music top DJ Gilles Peterson on his "Radio 1" show, and on his sets all over the world. He says: "...not all of these tracks work, but this one definitely does!" A special treat by the full brazilian swing on the guitars by Janja Gomes gives this track the standout factor to suit the pleasure of all the party ladies on the dancefloor. B2 - MJazzy - Live Circle This Joint from newcomer MJazzy reflects the brazilian groove and slick feel on highly syncopated beats, and a ULTRAPHAT bassline, not necessarily tied to a latin sound. The "wobbling" synth brings in all the lazy and sexy laidback flava resulted from being brought up on the busy and diverse lifestyle of Brazil's economic centre, São Paulo. Feelgood vibes all over it, baby!!!

Dead by Dawn was revamped for dubplate earlier this year and came in three different guises. This is the mix that has made it onto wax. Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 00/00/0000> Description: Prepare yourself for two brand new, dark and relentless tracks on the seventh release of Belgium based label Future Sickness. Breath of Steel by Lucio Di Rimanez is a techno influenced, stomping track with snares ready to slay an army of mechanical zombies and ahaunting synth melody that sounds like it was recorded in the middle of the factory in which they were build. The first deceiving tones of Gancher's First Cosmic give you only moments to heal. Your hiding place isn't safe for long though and before you know what's going on, an onslaught of screaming stabs, distorted kicks and some very aggressive breakbeats drop hard and keep going until there is nothing left. Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 01/03/2010> Description: Rockwell is a name on everyone’s lips. As if from nowhere he’s managed to get the whole drum & bass scene and more talking about him earning support from such luminaries as Fabio and Gilles Peterson. The ‘Noir EP’ comes not a moment too soon, a release to truly mark his arrival in electronic music and which looks set to turn even more heads. From the sheer sonic brilliance of the film score-inspired title track ‘Noir’ through to the skeletal break and sparse tendancies of the final ‘Tribe’, Rockwell is unfearing in his quest for dark, brooding experimentation that hasn’t been heard in years in drum & bass. An ambition to re-definine the term deep shines though on ‘Stay Calm’, a track that refreshes with glitchy FX, industrial pads and grounding bass that strikes the fear whilst the collaboration with Zero T ‘Bone Structure’ continues the theme with astounding results. Make no mistake people will double-take on this one.

On the flipside 'The Voice Of The Mysterons' has all the characteristics of a powerful jump-up club anthem. It's dark stabbing drums are a stark antithesis to the warmth and energy of 'Plugged In'. An eerie grinding synth rolls through the main body of the tune whilst a forceful muted kick drum and crushing bassline rises and drops with a force that could rival the mightiest of earthquakes. This one will have the walls shaking!Rregula 'Where Am I EP' SHB008 (Shady Brain)

16bit 'Chainsaw Calligraphy (Jakes Remix) / (Propatingz Crunk Massacre Remix)' BOKA024PT1 (Boka Records)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 15/02/2010> Description: Finish Copy Promo’s in Full artwork disco sleeve. The long awaited 16bit - ‘Chainsaw Calligraphy’ remixes are upon us, this is Part 1 of 2 featuring the JAKES and PROPATINGZ mixes.
JAKES, the founding member of the HENCH crew was an obvious target to carry out the Chainsaw remix, being a big fan of the original and regularly rinsing the track out in the raves, he’s given the track the signature Jakes sound, psychedelic bass-lines and heavyweight percussion, watch out for the sample too, see if you recognise it. Heavy support coming from N-TYPE (Rinse FM), MISTAJAM (Radio1), WALSH, TRUTH, MARLOW and HATCHA (Kiss FM).
UK born but now living in LA PROPATINGZ has his musical history in the Breaks scene, a long purveyor of the sound and a regular on the live scene he has more recently switched his style and has been directly influenced by 16bit’s sound. He has big releases lined upand is beginning to cause quite a stir with his tracks featuring on Radio 1 etc…..def one to look out for. His remix was written over the course of a year, alot of blood sweat and tears have gone into it, and the listener will realise this when he/she hears it, devastating, pure and simple. Support coming from OOAH and the GLITCH MOB crew, AKIRA KITESHI and N-TYPE (Rinse FM).16bit 'Chainsaw Calligraphy (Kanji Kinetic Remix) / (Original Mix)' BOKA024PT2 (Boka Records)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 15/02/2010> Description: Finish Copy Promo’s in Full artwork disco sleeve. KANJI KINETIC has been a purveyor of twisting violent bass music for a while now, since his release on Rag and Bone he has gone from strength to strength. His Chainsaw remix has been well received and he has completely reinvented and reinvigorated the original version, massive buzz building around this mix on the internet at the moment with support from KID606, AKIRA KITESHI, 16BIT, SQUIRE OF GOTHOS, CARDOPUSHER, RAFFERTIE, DROP THE LIME, MARY ANNE HOBBS (Radio1), SI BEGG & STARKEY. Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 01/03/2010> Description: Limited edition white label. Akira Kiteshi 'Boom N Pow / Boom N Pow (Raffertie Remix)' ACRE014 (Black Acre Records )
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 19/10/2009> Description: First 500 on LTD transparent red vinyl.
Edinburgh’s prodigal son returns to the boards for another alchemic fusion of glitchy boom bap and tear out noise terror. Boom N Pow, explodes out of the starting blocks with Akira’s super fresh sound aesthetic. Solid battle hardened hip hop drums sway and tumble under the pressure of aquatic bass and citric stabs. Just as the b-boys heads are bopping the beats shrink, normal gravity is restored and the barely audible rants of Akira’s imaginary Japanese self begins the wind up to point where Akira Kiteshi justifies his new title as master of the 2nd drop. Boom N Pow (Raffertie Remix) in an attempt to win most cutting edge banger of 09 we have employed the services of Planet Mu’s hot boy Raffertie on the re-up. Here the Brum hardcore enthusiast bring bitch slap snares, degraded synths and his own unique brand drunken noise chaos. Keeping up the neck snapping pace Raff flips the script on the 2nd drop into the kind of chaos best described as Aphex Twin on a Ragga Tip. It’s big and it IS clever.... Support: Mix Master Mike, Bobby Friction, Rob Da Bank, N Type, Reso, Raffertie, Joker, Starkey, MF GLK.Asusu 'Small Hours / Taurean' PSQ001 (Project Squared)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 11/01/2010> Description: Finish copies. A Techno and Dubstep label, formed mid 2009. Project Squared aims to release 12” vinyl and download projects that are dance floor focused, that test new ground and that have depth as well as impact. We release music that covers the space between Techno and Dubstep as well as music that stays more firmly within those two genres. Created as a sub-label of Project Mooncircle due to a change in taste from one of the co-ordinators of that label, we were amazed to find two artists (Asusu and Furesshu) that were not signed such was the quality of their music. Still in early stages, the label aims to keep releasing high quality dance music, to gather more artists and to change and evolve as styles change and evolve... Most importantly as our own tastes change and evolve. Project Squared is a sub-label of Project Mooncircle and is affiliated with HHV.de. The label is co-run by Paul Cooper and Gordon Gieseking. Artwork and design is by Gordon Gieseking.
Asusu - Now a dubstep producer with his sound tied to the deeper side of things, Asusu has moved from roots in hip hop and trip hop through to garage, dubstep and dub techno. Recently he has received radio play from various DJ’s on Sub FM, Dubstep FM and Reload Radio, and DJ’s himself (dubstep, garage & techno) mainly in Bath and Bristol. His tracks have received accolades in Mixmag and ATM (L.V. and XI’s top ten charts). He currently holds a residency at Rocksteady, Bath’s first monthly dubstep night, and also regularly co-hosts a show on Sub.fm alongside Trigga.Baobinga 'Ride It / Ride It (Untold Remix)' BUILD002 (Build)

Binary Sequence '66/31 / Arc / Below The Ice' DKX001 (Dark Arx)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 22/02/2010> Description: For its debut release, Dark Arx presents a 3-track single of gritty, emotive electronic music by Binary Sequence. Binary Sequence operates in the margins of UK dubstep channelling his influences through a painstaking process of deconstruction and distortion. The resulting tracks are gems of electronica, simultaneously beautiful and sonically fierce.
Based in London, Binary Sequence has been playing, writing and producing music for 20 years. Before being swept up in the electronica of the late 90s, he spent years tackling the mind-bending harmonics and rhythms of 60s & 70s jazz as a saxophonist and pianist. While starting to write his own music, he began to explore the possibilities of electronic production and after much experimentation and refinement he has created a unique sound, combining dusty distortion with pristine production values. Sonic comparisons point to Pole, Dabrye and Burial - but Binary Sequence's musicality is rooted in "Artificial Intelligence"-era electronica (Aphex Twin, Autechre, Black Dog).
DKX002 by Dark Arx will be released in March 2010.Blackmass Plastics & The Gruffians 'Ready Shreddy / I Love Computers' GRUFF001 (Gruff Records)
Audio: N/A Format : 12 Release Date : 15/02/2010> Description: * Blackmass Plastics, a veteran to many a scene, first came to prominence for his releases with the Dead Silence Collective, co-collaborating on some of their early releases for Audio Illusion & SMB records France. At that time it was hard edged mutant drum & bass and rapid-fire electro.
* READY SHREDDY is an amalgamation of garage, bassline, and grime…better still, listen to it. I LOVE COMPUTERS is a heavy, machine-step ripper, with menacing vocals and fatal bass lines.
* This is the much anticipated debut release from THE GRUFFIANS!! After years of plotting, concocting, scheming and other less salubrious passtimes ending in ‘i', they unleash two decimators on your unbeknowning ears!! b DJ Heny.G - Retro LoveDJ Maxximus 'Neo / Israhell / Neo (Shackleton’s Neo Bln Remix)' MG77.8 (MG77 Recordings)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 13/04/2009> Description: Finish copy. This more melodic new release from Berlin-based label MG77 Recordings, reflects the label’s versatility and transformability. Mastermind behind the label DJ Maxximus, this newest release since his 12“ single ‘Reason’ feat.Soom T (catalogued MG77.2A) in 2004 shows it was worth the wait! The new release, including a Shackleton Remix, pushes the label’s usually more heavily bass-driven sound into a more percussive and profound melodic direction. ‘Neo’ has a dark and deep quality, combined with the silvery synthesiser sounds that simulate the sensation of an eerie walk through something futuristic. The remix masterfully captures this same specific atmosphere coupled withShackleton’s signature style of typically using ethno-driven percussive rhythms, enhancing and colouring the tunewith a taint of garage. ‘Israhell’ has a more upbeat character with a tremulous theme. The wobbly bass lines give the Arab influenced melody and the UK dub drums the perfect backdrop in order for the track to become the highlight it undoubtedly is. The balance of this new release on MG77 is what makes it so essential to have. Even trying to follow the cunning rhythms and melodies always pulls you towards the bass’ magnetic feel, making it truly an indispensablerelease well worth buying. All in all, DJ Maxximus has shown his passion for bass, collaboration, and has proven his abilities to master the art of producing multifaceted and sumptuous new tracks. Dj Silkie / DJ Silkie 'Illegal Immigrant / Step Aside' ASC003 (Cloqworq Recordings)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 11/10/2009> Description: Very Limited White Label Promo. Dj Silkie provides his debut single on Cloqworq Recordings, which consists of two tracks written especially for this in house label. This is the first release since this producer has proved his talent time and time again with a string of releases over the past two years on the infamous deep medi recordings and not to mention the groundbreaking album ‘City Limits Vol. 1’. Dj Silkie And Anti Social Ent. as a collective are definitely ones to watch in 2009/2010 ‘step aside’ is a clever combination of hard hitting bass and breaks with the synthy, melodic and soulful elements as expected from this producer – dark and moody with a jazzy twist. this track drops into what can only be described as low end sub bass over a tribal beat pattern which is enough to shake up any dancefloor – a real stomper ‘illegal immigrant’ comes with similar vibes on the b side, starting off with emotive, dubesque pads and dropping with low down sub stabs over another unconventional but highly effective beat. this represents the other side to the anti social sound which can only be described of as the liquid/deeper dubstep sound. both tracks have had support on the highly acclaimed rinse fm on a weekly basis (www.rinse.fm) and are receiving heavy rotation from djs such as Skream, Mala And N-type in the clubs and not to mention major dubstep icons such as Hatcha from kiss 100 and Maryanne Hobbs from radio 1, this highlights the versatility of these tracks and the potential to cross into dj sets from different genres – a real must for all serious dubsteppers worldwide. Audio: N/A Format : 12 Release Date : 08/03/2010> Description: Donae' o aka Ian Greenidge was always destined to make a career out of music after growing up in a house where melodies were a major force. During his teens Donae'o would release a few singles, most notably Fallin and Bounce on various imprints. Both singles made an impact on the underground, with Bounce winning an award for Best Live P.A at the People's Choice Awards in 2003.All of this set the foundations for Donae's future success. A few years later an older, wiser and more business savy Donae'o penne a tune called Devil In A Blue Dress, and was to kick-start his career once again and have a major impact on the UK underground. From Devil In A Blue Dress, came his critically acclaimed Party Hard album, an mixture of beats, rich with his trademark heavy soulless and killer choruses. The lead single off the album also called Party Hard, became a massive hit in the clubs and on specialist radio, winning him champions across the board and throughout the British music press. A self-confession work-a-holic, Donae'o has also maintain 100% control over his own career path and prides himself on his own personal promotion machine. Without the help of a major record company or radio plugger, Donae'o has cemented himself as a 'one to watch'˙ for 2010, after performing at countless PA's up and down the country and a coveted spot at 2009's Glastonbury festival. 2009 didn't only see Donae'o drop his sought after Party Hard album. It also saw him being invited to perform in front of a crowd of 20,000 at the 1Xtra Live concert in Sheffield along side the likes of Chipmunch, Chase & Status and Taio Cruz, not to mention some surprise radio support for a track off the album called Riot Music. Riot Music was never released as a single, but in Novemer 2009, Zane Lowe surprisingly picked up on the track, making it his 'Hottest Record In The Universe'˙ and continuing to support it over the following months. The interest and buzz has continued to build, and in early Dec 2009, Riot Music was pulled from the digital bundle of the Party Hard album and signed to Shy FX's Digital Soundboy label. Since then, Shy has tweaked the radio mix and also roped in none other than Skream and The Nextmen for some remix pressure. Already a favourite with Zane Lowe, Annie Mac and Mista Jam, and continuing to win supports across the board, Riot Music is set to be one of THE big records for 2010! QUOTES: 'I Love this! Huge tune for me on the radio and on the road. The Skream remix is MASSIVE!' ZANE LOWE - RADIO 1

Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 04/01/2009> Description: Very limited supply Finish copies. Belgium's Stainage crew run the leading night dedicated to all open-minded sounds of the bass spectrum in their home city of Brussels. They have regularly attracted many of the UK and Europe's foremost dubstep and grime DJs as guest selectors, and with a hand from Cargo they now launch their label with this shapeshifting four track EP, showcasing the talents of Grimelock and Saviour, two of the crew's founding members, who each offer a pair of intriguingly-flavoured and horizon broadening cuts. Producer extraordinaire Grimelock is the beating heart of Stainage, and he fires first with 'Justice', aiming straight for the target with a combination of grime energy and punishing electrobass sonorities. The atmosphere is dark and oppressive, but the moody tones are balanced by infectious half-step beats and irresistible bass, a recipie mixed only with the dancefloor in mind. With rhythms designed to flatten whole city blocks and a disorientating collection of spiralling synth tones and effects borrowed from the harshest of early 90s Belgian techno, this ominously-addictive low-end scarifier is the sound of the heyday of R&S launchedhowling and headlong into 2008. Next up, a switch of style with 'Glow', an astonishingly heavyweight tribute to old school influences of the UK hardcore house sound, made with a contemporary dubstep feeling. Built around soulful and intricately edited femail voicesamples, 'Glow' rides a tickling Burial-esque woodblock garage rhythm, rising on huge clouds of thunderous sub-bass. Precise string motifs and chiming synths add a welcome continental melodic sensibility, while an envelopingly-dynamic arrangement is the keycomponent in a real hands-aloft bass anthem. Saviour takes side two with the aptly-titled 'Stampede', a pounding iron man giant oftrack which has been overwhelming the Stainage crowds for months. Booming dubstep beats and weapons-grade wobble are themuscle and bone, with a climbing fuzztone synth riff which worms its way through a rolling cycle of build ups and drops. Direct and deliberately uncomplex, 'Stampede' is strength in simplicity. 'Darkness Fall' is another Saviour-signature towering cut, with anhypnotic intro dissolving into barrage of pure bass. Again, resolutely dubstep in formation, 'Darkness Fall' is an excellent mix of deep vibes and power, all low-tempo atmospherics and highimpact sonics.

Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 04/01/2010> Description: Hyperdub’s original female producer Ikonika comes with this long-awaited release that lives up to all expectations, presenting two brilliant tracks that set the scene for her debut album due early in 2010. ‘Sahara Michael’ seems cryptic at first, but on repeated listens falls into focus, revealing its complex soul, marrying bright (dis)chords which contrast with the warm undertow of harmonies that flow throughout. The track steps into a bridge passage with a melody that recalls the funky worm melodies of prime G-Funk, extending the theme of contrasting polar opposites that the tune plays with. B side ‘Fish’ chanels early Detroit techno at its most abstract and painterly. Smears of bright vibrating chords flash frantically across the mix, building into thick harmonic meshes backed by a hard drum pattern before they solidfy into a triumphant melody. Strange and beautiful music, in a full-colour sleeeve to match. Indigo Feat Chunky / Indigo & XXXY 'Hold On / Premonition' EARZ002 (Open Ear Recordings)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 28/12/2009> Description: White label. Ital Tek 'Mako EP' ATM001 (Atom River)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 16/11/2009> Description: Finish copy. Ital Tek (Alan Myson) is back with his second release of 2009: Mako EP, proving again that he is carving his own sound within the spectrum of bass music. His busy international touring schedule and releases on the infamous Planet Mu label havecemented his reputation as one of the most inventive producers working under the Dubstep banner today. Following on from 2008’s acclaimed album Cyclical and 2009’s Massive Error this is the debut release for his own imprint Atom River. Over 4 tracks it sees Ital Tek once again perfectly bridging the gap between Dubstep, Techno and Electronica whilst retaining strong dance floor energy. Mako opens the record with one of Ital Tek’s warmest and thickest sounding tunes to date. Driving fuzz bass and a searing twisted lead push the track onwards over a bed of glorious chord progressions. Chemical Temple stomps in with a lurching half step rhythm and thick cutting synth lines before breaking down in a pulsating double time bass driven mesh of tight flickering percussion and distant ghostly melodies breaking through into the foreground. Manhattan sets things off with a bang on the B side. Sharp cold metallic breaks drop into a heavy driving bass throb. The drums cut through the track with shattering precision allowing the bass to whip out the solid rhythm, whilst again complimenting Ital Tek’s knack for melody. Topaz closes the record with a hard hitting Techno - Dubstep crossover. Pounding kicks and crisp percussion swell over the course of 5 minutes into a crescendo of swirling synths before dropping finally into an epic rinse out. This record once again shows Ital Tek’s ability to bring both heaviness and beauty to music that is as equally suited in a club as it is sound tracking a late night drive.

‘No Comply’ is a brand new label from veteran dubstep producer Marlow, and he continues to carefully carve out his own sound with a classic blend of dense melodics, emotive vocals and pulsing basslines. ‘Druid’ is no exception: an intricate wall of music hits you immediately, crunching mid-range that doesn’t over do it, pulsing 4x4 drums, and plenty of colourful detail, all heightened by a sweet vocal akin to the soulful tones of Minnie Ripperton. ‘Cattle Prod’ on the flip, once again, utilises a powerful vocal sample to build thetension for a drop that squelches and squashes it’s way through the dancefloor. - ATM Review.Martin Kemp 'After The Night / Aztec' BLR002 (Blunted Robots)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 22/02/2010> Description: The follow up to his genre-fusing debut, No Charisma, sees Martin Kemp with his boney little fingers firmly on the weird switch. Best described as sounding ‘like Carl Craig making UK Funky', our Martin is way darker than that bloke off Eastenders, and here lies the proof...DJs showing love include Alex Nut, Joy Orbison, Zomby, Jackmaster, Ross Allen, Untold, Brodinski, Hessle Audio and Geiom. Martyn 'Remixes 1/2' 3024006 (3024)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 22/02/2010> Description: Finish copy. Ending the brief hiatus that followed the 'Great Lengths' LP and accompanying world tour Martyn and 3024 usher in the new decade with a brace of remixes from the deepest recesses of the quasi-house community.
First out the gates is 3024-006, helmed by a pair of artists as unique as they are elusive; Zomby and Redshape. Easily one of the most talked about new producers of the last few years Zomby continues to evolve upwards and out, never settling on a particular style and constantly twisting the technicolour DNA of his output. Those smeared neon fingerprints are all over his reworking of Hear Me' which lights up clattering percussion and a black hole of a bass drop with layers of sparkling neon crystal SID chip melodies. Tackling 'Seventy Four' on the flip side is determinedly enigmatic Techno classicist Redshape. Responsible for a string of unashamedly human releases since 2006, his rich organic sound has recently caught the imagination of a 4x4 scene beginning to look beyond icy [and boring] minimalism for inspiration. A highlight of the forthcoming Fabric 50: Martyn mix CD, the original's glowering pulse is carefully built on with walls of murky analogue warmth and hissing industrial ambience before reaching a monolithic climax.
An integral part of every 3024 release, Erosie once again blesses this release with his inimitable visual style switching up to a monochrome design this time around.

Martyn Ft. Spaceape / Martyn 'Is This Insanity? (Ben Klock mix) / Brilliant Orange (Illum Sphere’s No. 14 mix)' 3024007 (3024)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 01/03/2010> Description: The second half of the Great Lengths Remixes package offers 3 more vividly contrasting interpretations of album tracks. Almost a year on from the release of his debut album "One" and with 'Saviour of Techno' plaudits still bouncing off concrete walls, Berghain lynchpin Ben Klock turns in a remix of Is This Insanity that distills everything inspirational about both the club and city he calls home. Spaceape's cracked vocal is welded to a sort of cavernous piston driven groove while traces of the original's melody fractured into the briefest of shards fight their way to the surface only to sink back into the percussive smog. Located well outside of the heavily scrutinised UK hype centres, Manchester's rising star Illum Sphere continues to hone his already distinct sound on the flipside's Brilliant Orange reworking. A clanking off kilter groove rubs up against an extended mutation of the original melody that pushes the track towards a poignant climax, evoking all the ache of reaching for the stars and landing squarely on one's face. Mizz Beats 'My World / The Jester' MEDI026 (Deep Medi Musik )
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 22/02/2010> Description: Set to shine in 2010, Mizz Beats is the 22 year-old from Hackney (East London) who aided and abetted labelmate Silkie in the creation of one of this year’s certified bangers: ‘Purple Love’. Earning her stripes in the midst of the UK’s grime scene, she has already produced for the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Jammer and Lady Sovereign and she is undoubtedly one of the Anti Social Entertainment clique’s brightest prospects alongside Quest, Silkie, Kromestar, J5, Harry Craze and Heny G.
Mizzy’s debut 12” on DEEP MEDi Musik showcases both her versatility and a lightness of touch that belies her years. ‘My World’ marries sloping half-step drums, offhand tom rolls and cleverly constructed synth work, conjuring a wickedly melodious groove. On the flip, ‘The Jester’ zips off in a different direction, carried by tougher, stripped-back drums and myriad 8-bit Gameboy bleeps, zaps and bumps. An altogether clubbier affair, but no less sophisticated, fans of Gemmy and Joker will undoubtedly approve.Monkey 'Volume VIP / Emmanuel I' SONIC001 (Sonic Lodge Recordings)

Raffertie '7th Dimension / String Theory' ZIQ261 (Planet Mu)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 18/01/2010> Description: Planet Mu starts the year off with this energetic blast from one of dance music's most original producers, Raffertie. Hailing from the south coast and now based in Birmingham, Raffertie is a 21 year old DJ/producer who makes a distinctive high energy music that weaves the DNA of different microgenres of UK dance music into an exuberant chimera. Alongside his DJing exploits, Raffertie's productions have received much acclaim. Receiving accolades from the likes of Simon Reynolds and being asked to do a session for Mary Anne Hobbs, Raffertie's sugar rush sound takes a turn in a different direction to his usual style with this release for Planet Mu. 7th Dimension takes a half speed dubstep intro, some cosmic strings borrowed from a 92' rave record and a panting diva sample and sends them through a black hole and out the other end, adding psychedelic effects and a stomping 4/4 beat before taking the whole thing back down again into a dark and frantic bleep and bass workout. String theory does almost the opposite, the ravey strings are there, but these dematerialise, leaving a vast, strange bass line that sounds like metal bending in a storm, with only skittering, splashing drums filling the void, before the track gently builds again adding vocoder and diva vocals. The track sounds huge and deep but energetic and strange, like nothing else out there. Raffertie 'Pumpin Like Reeboks / Vomit Riddim' ACRESB002 (Black Acres Special Branch)
Audio: N/A Format : 12 Release Date : 22/02/2010> Description: * First 500 copies come on “Pump It Up” Orange vinyl.
* New Black Acre special armed response unit returns with a party rocker celebrating an era the artist is too young remember and the A&R was too high to remember.
* Pumpin Like Reeboks:
An adrenaline soaked dose of pure nosebleed speed garage rave crossbred with Dubstep’s bassonics and 90’s b-boy swagger. Raffertie hits his stride with his most accessible & anthemic work to date. Pounding 4x4 kicks bounce off Cylon bass cannon blasts and Crashing 808 claps battle rave sirens for dominance of the air space. Clipped vocal edits and pinpricks of distorted noise are littered though out this blood pressure raising carnival ride as a constant reminder that this is party music with intellect.
* Vomit Riddim:
Balance is often achieved by the juxtaposition of opposites, so as the perfect Yang to Reeboks Ying we present Raffertie at his most disorientating and upsetting. A neck breaking kick-snare combo bounce along the foundations as walls of distorted and tangled noise are conjured from the dark alchemist’s sonic cookbook. The source of this barrage on the senses is the soundtrack to a night gone very wrong. Culminating in what could be described as the sounds of a robot vomiting out the pixelated nightmares of Wall-E. But don’t be fooled, embrace the fragmented world and it will open up exposing small rays of light in the form of beautifying and subtle synth work.
* Support: Mary Anne Hobbs, Rob Da Bank, Rusko, Caspa, N-type.Reso 'Temjin EP' CIV011 (Civil)

Black Box is pleased to be releasing one of his most in-demand dubplates. Utilising a highly infective vocal for the backbone of ‘Naked Mariokart’, RSD builds a tough stepper around the sample, as he shoehorns tunnelling midrange and soaring melody over the ground-shaking sub bass. Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 18/01/2010> Description: The Spatial 10-inch EP series reaches its third and most visceral installment yet with '90729' and '90807'. Spatial's inaugural release on Infrasonics in late 2008 was enthusiastically welcomed by listeners, DJsand critics, as was its follow-up earlier this year, a reaction attributable to the producer’s instinctive fit with one of the prevailing moods in dubstep – in reclaiming the fluidity of 2-step garage and reappropriating dub-techno processes, these productions capably stand alongside those of Martyn or 2562. More than the execution of these satisfying tropes, though, their strength lies in a spooky attunement to the faint vibrations of a whole spectrum of dancefloor epiphanies, presenting in some ways a crisper, less melancholy counterpart to Burial, or even James Kirby's projects as The Caretaker, but from the right side of the comedown. This latest collection of tracks, possibly Spatial's most evocative, takes indirect inspiration from experience of the kind of '91-era Euro-rave documented in Warlock's recent mix for FACT magazine. Removed as the comparison might seem given their wrought, contemporary sound, vestiges are detectable, such as the transmuted hoover basslines, hollow panic-synths and ectoplasmic vocal trails that at the peak of these tunes threaten to fill out Spatial's characteristically airy, open-textured mix. Correspondingly, '90729' and '90807' all constitute conscious attempts to aim more squarely at the dancefloor, with success already coming in the form of DJ support from Untold, Incyde, T++, and Dubwar NYC resident Dave Q. Spiders 'Spiders' MATH03 (Brain Math)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 11/10/2009> Description: Finish copy. Following up Zomby’s Digital Flora, BRAiNMATH is returns with SPIDERS by SPIDERS. As always, insanely limited!! Starkey 'Rain City / Beatingz' RWINA005 (Rwina Records)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 01/03/2010> Description: Following on from massive releases like 'Half Man Half Trout' (Taz Buckfaster) and Freeze Step (South Africa's Playdoe), Rwina welcomes Philly's illest, Starkey, back to the fold.
'Rain City' is one of those tunes that could only be the product of someone at the peak of their powers. How many big dancefloor tracks manage to completely do away with the snare and rely instead on intense synth work to hype the crowd? How many tracks getsupport from players such as Skream, DJ Oneman and Noah D yet sound like Kraftwerk and Bach jamming on Jupiter before riding a magic rainbow to DMZ? Believe the hype, Rain City is all that.
On the flip, 'Beatingz' shows Starkey's complete grasp of dynamics and arrangement, building gradually and subtly until before you know it, what began as some kind of gully-crunk brain-melt riddim has got you rushing your proverbial tits off. Almost too much to take. Heavy support by: Skream, MAH, Plastician, DJ Oneman, Baobinga/Skinnz, Blackdown!Stripper feat. Dj Omega w. Akira Kiteshi remix 'Stripper Theme' GPR005 (Giant Pussy Records)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 11/01/2010> Description: Having remixed Little Boots, Paul McCartney and the Orb in 2009, the mystery producers, Stripper, proud owners of Brighton’s phattest dance studio (probably), delivered a bomb of a remix or the Felguk vs Tim Healey tune, Rio, for us last month.
This month Giant Pussy present a Stripper original, featuring Detroit’s finest Omega. The super-tight 808 groove sets up the tune, Omega’s sleazy flow paints the picture, winding the crowd up to the max, before the sexy beast of a bass-line catapults the dance-floor into a writhing orgy of energy. And then it does it again... and again.
This track has been absolutely huge for both of Giant Pussy’s directors: Tim Healey and DJ Deekline, since they laid their hands on it, as a result, they kept it close to their chest, until now.
Akira Kiteshi’s dub-step profile is right up there, as he consistently delivers the freshest sounds on the scene, and this remix is no exception. Akira wraps the original in the squelchiest bass that we’ve ever heard, setting a new standard in the genre for 2010. Be warned : this is massive.
Early DJ Support from: Kissy Sell Out (Radio 1), Mary Anne Hobbs (Radio 1), Fatboy Slim, Tomcraft, Laidback Luke, Dave Spoon, Utah Saints, Mason, Lee Mortimer, Bryan Cox, AC Slater, Keith Mackenzie, Scumfrog, Zinc, Malente, Roger Sanchez, Hatiras….

Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 08/03/2010> Description: Ultra limited one sided white label. One of the most hyped dubstep whites lately. Sully 'Reminder' FRJ005 (Frijsfo Beats)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 30/11/2009> Description: Super Limited white label. Griping about dubstep seems pretty pointless at the moment – for almost every formulaic record on the shelves, there's another young, creative producer beating a much more interesting path. Norwich's Jack Stevens – better known as Sully – is justifiably seen as one of those individuals. Tantalisingly doing the rounds on dub for long enough now, “Reminder” and “Jackman's Rec” should usher in Sully's biggest moment yet. Since Blackdown (AKA Martin Clark) included both in his end-of-year dubstep chart for Pitchfork, he and DJ partner Dusk have supported the tunes consistently on Rinse FM and at FWD>>, also featuring “Jackman's Rec” in their XLR8R magazine podcast last year. “Reminder” has subsequently been deployed in sets by Ben UFO, Pangaea and Tomb Crew, the latter including it in their recent contribution to FACT magazine's respected mix series. One of Sully's tricks is that his music never falls into predictable slots. “Reminder” might be a peak-time, late-summer skanker, but there isn't a clichéd reggae sample in earshot. Instead, it's closer to a translation of pioneering producer Pole's crackly dub abstractions into dancefloor form. “Jackman's Rec” is a velvety roller that on one level, is the best example so far of how Sully's intuition for swing allows him to nail the dark sensuality of early FWD>> beats. Yet at the same time, it's in no way trapped in nostalgia for that era, simply sounding like the next step for future garage. “Reminder” / “Jackman's Rec” is released on 12” vinyl and digital formats, including 50 12” white-labels available in advance. Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 19/10/2009> Description: Finish copy. The Heavy return with next single from their forthcoming album, “The House That Dirt Built,” a widescreen funk epic, moving from JBs shuffle to crashing break, Animals guitar and horn fanfares, a huge build which is set to bring the house down wherever it’s played. As if the original wasn’t enough, The Heavy have compiled a superb package of remixes. Fellow West Countryman Joker, gives the original a huge dollop of Purple and comes up with something sounding like Timberlake smoking skunk in St Pauls. Sometime Mowgli-collaborator Solo goes more down a 4/4 route, building up the congas etc into a perfect example of what he calls “midget house”. Finally, Ghost takes the tempo down and emphasises the mournful backing vocals for a suitably majestic finale. As if this wasn’t enough, The Heavy have also thrown in a bonus track, “Tell It Like It Is,” a country-fried hoe-down which emphasises just how good Swaby’s voice is. Produced by Jim Abbiss (best known for his work with the Arctic Monkeys, Adele and Kasabian), “The House That Dirt Built” is a breakthrough record from one of the most exciting bands in the UK just now. With a growing rep in the States, festival dates lined up for the summer and a huge tour to support the album this autumn, the Heavy have just built their house on your front lawn. Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12" Release Date : 21/12/2009> Description: The classic TRG release. repressed and Re-released. Fresh from releasing killer plates on Hessle Audio, Subway and Audio Freakz, Romania’s TRG touches down on Immerse to deliver this highly-accomplished 12”. First up is Time is Now, kicking off with samples of dystopian android speech mixed up with a simple flute lick that gives no warning of the impending carnage! Snipped up breaks collide with whiplash-inducing bass action and shuddering subs to make a guaranteed mess of any dancefloor. Flipside, TRG gets more reflective with They Know, as wistful chords drift across the intro like echoes of some long-forgotten rave, before dropping into a post-UKG boom-bass workout. Subs bulge beneath the broken 2-step riddim and occasional warping midline, building nicely towards the killer switchups on the second drop. Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 18/01/2010> Description: Danish synth-rock band Turboweekend’s first release in the UK is an atmospheric yet heartfelt cry of regret on the A-side and a jumpy celebration of the end of work obligations (with an ironic twist) on the B-side, featuring the royal company of Bristol’s finest, Joker, and indie prince Russell Lissack from Bloc Party.
”I am tipping them for very, very big things here in UK. The Lead singers voice is amazing.(...)This is huge.” -Mista Jam (live on BBC1 and 1 Extra)
”Natty Danes Turboweekend’s angsty single ’Trouble Is’ is like One Republic’s “Apologize” as seen through the bass lens of Blank Dogs (...) It’s an excursion into the dark crevices of your feelings, but don’t EVEN try and tell us you’re not at least a little emo.” - The Fader.com (Julianne Shepherd)
”Wow. Most remixes don’t do justice to the original song, but this is from another world. This bass heavy remix is the reason I love British music.” - Man Movement.com (LSR)

Good luck with the release!” 2562 “I’m loving both these tracks! I will be playing these out for sure. The B side kind of reminds me of Yello, on a skanking ska tip! full club support from me! many thanks” October “I liked what I've heard and since you're with ST I gladly can guarantee you our support.” T++ (Hard Wax) “Really feeling these two tracks. Kev Pangaea played the B side at FWD recently; it sounded great in the mix and warm on the system. It's passed my sort-of acid test, then.” Joe (Hessle Audio) “GREAT tunes! Audio: N/A Format : CD Release Date : 01/03/2010> Description: *Oneman opens Rinse˙s 2010 account for the indomitable mix series, taking the 11th installment on a party focused excursion through the sounds of London˙s underground rave scene.
*Martyn, Geeneus & Ms Dynamite, Joy Orbison, Joker, Starkey, Bok Bok, Zomby and more all feature here and the mix lies somewhere between the energy of his Rinse show and live set. Those familiar with Oneman will have come to know him for flinging down pre 2006 dubstep and garage riddims and may be surprised to find a predominantly upfront selection here.
*"...I gathered a bunch of tunes I˙m playing at the moment. Geeneus sorted me out with a VIP of 'Get Low˙which is a touch but yeah people will probably expect a bunch of garage classics. The thing, is I don˙t find many classic tunes in todays music. Most stuff has a short shelf life which is cool but that˙s why I would delve back to the older music...[chuckles] yeah the opening tune on the mix is a bit of a statement from me. You gotta move forward though, this CD is a selction of what I like now. I don˙t wanna get stuck as that guy that plays garage, I˙m moving on.ˇ
*With so much new music pouring out from all over the UK, the underground rave scene has always kept the spotlight on DJs that also produce. Savvy ravers will come to see those who'se music they˙ve been listening to on radio or downloaded from blogs and rightly too; producer DJs come with the added bonus of a bunch of their own exclusives that may never see a release. It˙s exciting.
*Taking this into consideration, Oneman is an anomaly. His growing success is due entirely to his ability to keep the party jacking all night long. He is a ravers DJ and audaciously he stays abreast of his producer DJ peers without ever releasing a riddim or remix. He even featured on Mary Anne Hobb˙s seminal Generation Bass Maida Vale session for Radio 1 as the only DJ with a record to his name.
*Journalists and DJ's suggesting we're at an important time in UK underground dance music can see the proof in this mix. It˙s a time for unity on the dancefloor as genre divisions and fade and groove returns. Testament to why the world looks to our dancefloors for inspiration, Rinse 11 is a snapshot of UK raving now.

Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 27/07/2009> Description: Paris’ premier producer of “sexy” dubstep returns with the acid heavy, Chicago influenced “Coquine”. Stomping kick drums tumble under a barrage of squeltchy stabs and dusty snares with a big nod back to warehouse raves of old. once the crowd has erupted into euphoric overdrive the track drops in the radio crackled Spanish dialogue of a lady who could well be a long lost flame of the Parisian love merchant. The peace is abruptly ended with textured reverse synthwork and an overall more Hip Hop aesthetic. Pon de flip Helsinki badman and Dubstep Pioneer Tes La Rok steps up on remix duties. Here he takes “Truth” deep, abyss deep. Hypnotic 8bit frequencies float over a submariners wet dream of a subscape. Proper rib cracking dub business. Support: Laurent Garnier, Skream, Scuba, Baobinga, DJ Chef, Nick Argon, Cloudsa Von D - Coquineb Von D - Truth (Tes La Rok Remix) Von D 'EchoLow / Truth' ACRE009 (Blackacre Records)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 04/05/2009> Description: Finish copies. Von D – Echolow / Truth. Exposed from birth to the multi-cultural ethos of the Paris suburbs, a young Von – D found his soul’s conduit in a beat up drum kit. While the riddims of King Tubby fused and morphed into the foetal jungle of Photek, SergeGainsborg issued instructions from the radio. A fusion chef of bassweight Von D deftly slices into unpredictable genres, concocting strange and beautiful new forms. Echolow takes a proto-junglist break heavy sound palate back into early 90’s acid house clubland. With £15 pill in hand we are dragged to floor by the galloping percussion and expansive subs as Von D snatches at soul samples and contorts them into metallic computer sirens. Truth is a late night journey through neon reflecting wet streets of Paris. Haunting chords are aided in setting the nocturnal scene by sparkling pianos, while sinister intent is provided by the cloak of subs. Just when you belted up and ready to cruse a bruising 4x4 kick and angular square bass stomp on the accelerator propelling you into the night. In essence Truth is about balance, an uneasy truce between opposites creating a breathtaking new sound. Barcode - 5055317203014Edward Williams 'Life On Earth' JBH034CD (Trunk)
Audio: N/A Format : CD Release Date : 26/10/2009> Description: B/C - 0666017214924
* Yet another superlative soundtrack release from Trunk Records: The groundbreaking natural history programme Life On Earth hit TV screens 30 years ago, in 1979. This is the first time the beautiful music composed for the series has been commercially issued. Its quite extraordinary that something so utterly beautiful has remained unissued until now.
* Jonny was given permission by Sir David Attenborough and John Sparks (the renowned naturalist and producer of the series) to use their world famous image of the tree frog for the front cover.
* Johnny Greenwood from Radiohead decided to place a link to this Life On Earth story on the front page of the Radiohead website.
* THE MUSIC: The sounds composed and created for the series are quite magical. Its the sound of science, of underwater life, of progress, flight, fight, death and courtship. We have swamps, petrified forests, snowscapes and coral reefs. And of course music composed for a wide variety of birds, animals and sea-dwellers of all shapes and sizes.
* Influences include Erik Satie, British pastoral composition of the post war period and pioneering UK electronics. Whats extraordinary is that Edward Williams seemed to created a sound way ahead of his time; listen to track two or three and you will hear music that could easily be mistaken for the contemporary soundtrack work of Cliff Martinez or Clint Mansell.
* THE COMPOSER: Edward Williams is an extraordinary composer and inventor. Born in 1921, at Hindhead, Surrey - his poet, journalist and art historian father a keen amateur naturalist and folksong collector, his mother the musical daughter of a Colorado cattle rancher.
* He wrote the music for a large number of documentary films, including several devoted to wild life subjects, as well as some music for theatre and radio. Two films from this time, "Dylan Thomas" (an evocation of the poets life and work) and "Wild Wings" (about Peter Scott and the wildfowl sanctuary at Slimbridge) were awarded Hollywood "Oscars". Later he worked on several programmes for the BBC Natural History Unit, culminating in David Attenboroughs "Life on Earth" BBC series - with "The Discovery of Animal Behaviour" and "The Living Isles" and "Earth" following later.
* Vinyl Limited To 500 only.

Audio: N/A Format : 12 Release Date : 15/02/2010> Description: *Kuedo is the new name for Jamie Vexd, one half of the duo Vex'd, one of the most legendary dubstep groups whose 2005 album "Degenerate" re-wrote the rulebook and was one of the founding documents in establishing the dubstep sound out of 2-step & uk garage, by bringing industrial, techstep, breaks and grime influences to the fore.
*Lead track 'Starfox' has a construction of rhythmically abstract beats giving the track a lurching bounce, while synthesizers play a game of call and response amongst layers of abstract computer game noise, which barely conceal the lush melodies at the track's core.
*'Shutter Light Girl' is a short track that rivals Burial's beatless instrumentals for the abilipaint imaginary scenarios in a listener's head. On the B-side, 'Joy Construction' takes stumbling drums, a jsampled chord of female voice, tweaked synths and rolling bleeps through a see-sawing melody. Then the EP finishes with the charming 'Glow' which pits 2-step beats that sound like they are struggling through mud, against a spiky melodic bassline, marimba and airy female vocals.

Audio: N/A Format : CD Release Date : 01/03/2010> Description: * Although Planet Mu is primarily known for cutting-edge material on the fringes of dance music, it’s also had a side that’s consistently released interesting electronic pop from the likes of Capitol K, back in the late 90s to Julian Fane, Leafcutter John, Sunken Foal and even Patrick Wolf.
* The Internal Tulips is a new project from two guys who have a history in American Bands such as Medicine and Savage Republic and who have separately released more abstract electronic music on Planet Mu in the past; they are Brad Laner who was Electric Company and Personal Electronics and Alex Graham who is Lexaunculpt, and they continue continue these experiments in pop.
* This album is very special indeed. The project has a Beach Boys/Brian Wilson/Beatles influenced sound, but it manages to avoid being another exercise in retro comfort music because Brad and Alex use laptop trickery learnt form their more experimental pasts to bring their sound firmly into the present.
* Aside from making beautiful songs, sung in Brad’s delicate multi-tracked falsetto, The Internal Tulips give their whole project a very modern, psychedelic production, treating their slow burning but gently arranged Americana to unusual treatments that blur the layers between acoustic and electronic sounds, cutting and editing vocals and instruments and adding depth and clarity to the arrangements, giving them an extra sense of the dreamlike.
* It’s an album that feels immediately familiar; we’re used to Grizzly Bear and the Fleet Foxes, bands you could superficially compare to Internal Tulips, but after a few listens the modern abstraction and production at the heart of the album will pull you in and take you somewhere else.

MJ Cole feat. Digg 'Gotta Have It' PROPH115 (Prolific Recordings)
Audio: Listen MP3 Format : 12 Release Date : 30/11/2009> Description: Production legend, scene stealer and one time MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE nominee MJ COLE hooks up with Atlantic Records latest signing and one of the freshest vocal and song writing talents in the country, DIGGA, for what is set to be a HUGE radio and club smash – GOTTA HAVE IT! MJ COLE layers his distinctly piercing strings with DIGGA’S soft but overtly masculine tones to weave a tale of unrequited love with a twist. Couple that with the infectious bassline provided by this production wizard and the pair are definitely sitting on a potential hit! At the age of 24 Matt Coleman better known as MJ COLE became one of the first artists to crossover from the burgeoning UK Garage scene to mainstream success. Grounded in a culture obsessed with authenticity, he was almost unique in simultaneously drawing praise from his lesser-known peers as easily as the critics (the album, ‘SINCERE' was nominated for the MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE) and the record-buying masses (two top ten singles with ‘SINCERE' and ‘CRAZY LOVE'). The album was certified silver in the UK alone, and a MOBO award for Best Producer cemented Matt's reputation. His list of remix credits are as star studded as any, from MARIAH CAREY, ROOTS MANUVA, DIDO, NITIN SAWNEY, DE LA SOUL and LAMB he’s been one of the most sought after producers for the last ten years. GOTTA HAVE IT is the first single from the forthcoming as yet untitled album and teams MJ up with rising star DIGGA, the man behind huge internet hit BROKEN who has recently featured on the massive CHASE & STATUS album MORE THAN A LOT. Along with the firing original version GOTTA HAVE also features a further six remixes from the likes of ILL BLU, MICKY SLIM, PENFOLD, CONTROL S, EPYDEMIX and MJ’s very own FUNKY DUBB taking DIGGA’s vocal in a number of inspired directions.

Various Artists 'Ghetto Ska' KSLP021 (Kingston Sounds)
Audio: N/A Format : LP Release Date : 22/02/2009> Description: The shuffle rhythm that was born from the American Rhythm and Blues tunes that hit Jamaica in the 1950's would soon fuse under its Jamaican influence and find an emphasis on the second and fourth bars of the beat. This Off-Beat would create the Ska Sound and no fine exponent of this in the sounds early days was Theo Beckford.
Theophilus 'Easy Snapping' Beckford (born 1935, Kingston, Jamaica) began his musical career in the mid fifties and had after only two years mastered his instrument of choice the piano. His first hit for Coxonne Dodd's Worldisc label was the classic ‘Easy Snapping’. He had created his own laid back style that simply rolled off his piano and his musical arrangements became the backbone of so many early Ska tunes. His services were soon in demand with not only Coxonne Dodd but all the other top flight producers of the time.
We have compiled some great early Ska cuts for this release that have been touched with the T. Beckford magic. Some of his own classic hits 'Flip,Flop and Fly' (aka Walking Down King Street), 'Mr Downpressor' the fantastic 'Don't Have a Ticket Don't Worry'. His poignant duo of 'Grudgeful People' and 'Ungrateful People' and two other timeless tracks 'What A Woe' and 'Boilerman'. Alongside some of his productions for some of the other long – forgotten hero's of the early Ska Sound.
A mighty fine set of early Ska tunes fighting their way out of Kingston Town and into your Hearts ...Hope you enjoy the set.
